TATTING PROJECTS TATTING PAGE BOBBINLACE PAGE CAT PAGE

Several years ago we made a visit to the Bok Tower Gardens near
Tampa, FL. It is a beautiful place and quite the bird sanctuary.
Inside the museum there was a framed bobbin lace piece that is
designed to look like the Bok Tower. It is a masterpiece! Sorry
that the photo isn't the best.
I was in awe when I saw it. It seemed to be about the same size
as me, and I am six feet tall. So that was no easy task to
design. The picture on the right is the actual Bok Tower. The
picture on the left is the bobbin lace piece. I am just glad that
I can share this with you. My Bobbin Lace teacher (Christy Holtkamp)
helped me a great deal on researching the facts about this masterpiece.
The woman who made the lace is named Petronella Wensing and she's
from Australia (born in the Netherlands)and in her 80's. She made the lace from a
photograph, having never been to the United States.
So when the Bok Tower Museum dedicated the lace, they brought her
over for a formal presentation.
